Walking in Blossom February 2012

February 2012 - Walking In Blossom Week

When I arrived back in Spain after a couple of months in the UK, I met my friend Anton in a Spanish bar over a cup of coffee. He was reading 'El Pais' a spanish newspaper.'What is your next group you have Dan.''Walking In Blossom in two weeks time' I replied.'Oh, Dear' he said tapping (and laughing) an article in the paper. The headline was - Las Alpujarras Blossom gone Brown!!.The high in February over central europe had managed to get as far down as Malaga, meaning the nighttime temperature plummeted to -10oC which killed all the flowering blossom and it was unseasonally dry, meaning the almond trees were not producing new blossom.Oh well I though we will just change the name to Walking In Twigs. But luckily it snowed and the resulting melt gave the trees a new burst of blossom. It was not as vivid as the previous years but it was still a lovely sight.
The weather satyed fine and the walking holiday was enjoyed by all. To book for 2013, contact us.
